A Legacy of Community Commitment

Established in the Mid-1970s
The Kidder County Swimming Pool was constructed in the mid-1970s, serving as a vital recreational resource for the community of Steele, North Dakota. Over the decades, it has provided an enjoyable environment for residents of all ages to engage in aquatic activities.
Transition to a Nonprofit Organization
Recognizing the need for sustainable management and community-driven initiatives, the pool transitioned into a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization. This shift allowed for more focused fundraising, community involvement, and the ability to apply for grants and donations to support its operations and improvements.
Board of Directors
The Kidder County Swimming Pool is governed by a dedicated board of twelve members, each bringing unique skills and a shared passion for enhancing the community's access to aquatic recreation. Their collective efforts have been instrumental in the pool's ongoing success and development.
Plans for a New Pool Facility
In 2021, the board announced plans to break ground on a new swimming pool facility in the spring of 2024, with the goal of completing construction by 2025. This project aimed to provide a modern, accessible, and safe environment for swimmers, incorporating updated amenities to meet the needs of the community. The new KCSP was officially opened the summer of 2025 for a short seasson.
